We all know about the huge success the iPad has seen in the past 6 months, yet many companies are reluctant to embrace the notion of creating an iPad app. Is is development cost? Lack of resources? Lack of end user demand?
What are your thoughts? Why aren’t more companies investing in the development of branded iPad apps for their company and customers?
A Charlottesville software developer has built an application for the iPhone that will allow consumers to purchase tickets to local music and arts events over their mobile phone.
"I made it for totally selfish reasons," Michael J. Prichard said. "This is something that I wanted. I though it'd be cool if I could just pull out my iPhone and buy a ticket to a concert."
The application, called Deoji, has been approved by Apple and was posted to its Web site on Wednesday. Owners of iPhones and iPod Touches can now download the free program from iTunes.
Three local spots — the Paramount Theater, Is Venue and Live Arts — have already signed up to accept tickets bought via Deoji.

Apple Inc.'s tablet computer will be like a large iPod Touch and cost about $600, an analyst said on Friday.
Piper Jaffray senior research analyst Gene Munster even went so far as to forecast that it will sell about 2 million units and bring Apple about $1.2 billion in revenue next year.
The speculation is based on information he received from an unnamed Asian component supplier Munster said is working with Cupertino-based Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL).
"As talk over a new tablet device from Apple (grows), we are reiterating our thesis that in early (2010) Apple will introduce a touch-screen device similar to an iPod Touch but larger," Munster wrote in his report.
He also said he expects the tablet would have a 3G modem and "would offer best in class Web, e-mail, and media software. In other words, we believe Apple's tablet would compete well in the netbook category even though it would not be a netbook."
Report: Apple tablet will be like big iPod Touch, sell for $600 – Sacramento Business Journal:.
The Apple iPhone and iPod are arguably small tablets–and consumers have demonstrated unmistakably that they love these devices. So, a larger, more versatile version of the iPod makes perfect sense.
And some not-so-small companies like Qualcomm and Intel are pushing tablet-like devices for their next-generation silicon. So this isn't just Apple (if the Apple tablet rumors are indeed true).
That said, let's not limit this potential market to Apple. A company clever enough to design a compelling Google Chrome OS-based tablet, for example, will also succeed, if an Android-based tablet design doesn't arrive first.

Got the new iLife 09 lastnight and thus far very impressed with the improvements.
My favorites include:
- face recognition in iPhoto which learns faces over time for better tagging and organization
- gps recognition in iPhoto which maps photos based on location. This is great for pictures taken on the iPhone in particular.
- iMovie effects including the old effects from iMovie HD that were missing in 08
-iMovie share with Flickr and facebook which eleviate the need for additional plugins
Still exploring other new features and will post a few videos here to illustratethem as I learn more.
